Jody Whitt, talented artist, urged me to bl(AH)g long ago. I've stumbled upon great & untidy & unexpected surprise stuff on the net & maybe, just maybe, I might surprise someone someday somewhere somehow with something I've included here.

Jody is a NUTT
For the record (which one, I don't know), I have absolutely no recollection of what Jody said transpired back at Vanderbilt in 1993. Jody, you know how "blissful" you were back then, especially at night:). Loved you then, love you now but I'm afraid to send people to your blog because I know the things you say (which, yes, I do sometimes covet--"the authority of menopause," for instance).
Hearing "Wisteria" & Japan's Train Accident
I can't believe that train derailed in Japan. I live in Japan off and on and can only imagine the frenzy of the officials. You know, in a highly ordered Japan, things like this just aren't supposed to happen. God help all those affected, especially the 23 year-old conductor who, at this point, they believe took a maximum 44-mile/hour curve at almost two times that speed.

Inaugural Post
Perhaps Jody is right and this bl (AH) g will do. You tell me. I'll tell you.
"Wisteria" with Kwame and Valerie and Valetta and Brian and everyone else was overwhelming. My hands trembled on the keyboard. All those big black booming blooms on stage. And how we bloomed. Must be so since, as Kwame puts it, we've "swallowed the blast of sun." Yeah. Yeah. More performances to come, I prophesy: LA, Boston, New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney, Kingston, Trinidad, Madrid.
But before all that--finishing the dissertation. "Finishing the hat..." (Sunday in the Park with George)
